The following image displays the differences in a lamp's color based upon the temperature of the lamp.  How bright or what color a lamp illuminates is measured in Kelvins.  The Lower the number of Kelvin units of a lamp, the warmer (soft, yellow) the color.  Higher kelvin lamps appear cooler (more white and blue).  Refer to the image below:
